Nancy L. Emmick

Nancy L. Emmick (nee Brosius), age 73, of Marion, IN passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021, at home.

She was born December 16, 1947, in Chicago, IL to Edward J. and Dorothy M. (nee Kodish) Brosius.  She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Heather Marie Skogsberg of Upland, Indiana; daughter, Nicole Angela (Kevin) Sears of Minooka, Illinois; son, William W. (Despina) Emmick of Chicago, Illinois; son, Dr. Dirk Erik (Janet) Skogsberg of Plainfield; and son, John Edward Emmick of Cripple Creek, Colorado; her sister, Carol Hoadley of Norman, Oklahoma; her brother, Lee Brosius of Silver Springs, Maryland; 4 nieces, 11 nephews, 14 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, as well as many life-long friends and enduring colleagues.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Gary W. Emmick; her parents, Edward J. and Dorothy M. Brosius; and her loving grandmothers, Gertrude (nee Vestegard) Kodish and Elizabeth “Bessie” (nee Hall) Brosius, whom Nancy adored.

In her early life, Nancy enjoyed bowling, following in her parents passion, including that of her father, Eddie, who was a professional bowler.  Nancy’s creative mind extended to many other interests including sewing, knitting, crocheting, and ceramics which would come to fruition after she retired from Nalco Chemical Company after more than 14 years as a dedicated senior secretary, and prior to moving to Indiana.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, visitation is limited, but will be available at Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 N. Bridge St., Yorkville, IL on Thursday, January 14, 2021, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a brief memorial service at 7:00 p.m.  A graveside funeral will be reserved for family only with final interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Evergreen Park, Illinois on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 12:00 p.m.
