Katie Belle Owens
- December 22, 2021
Katie B. Owens went to be with the Lord on December 19, 2021, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s dementia.
She was born February 28, 1931, in Smokey Valley, Kentucky, to the late Russel and Maudie (Sharp) Fultz. Katie was a homemaker and worked as a waitress for several years. She was a skilled seamstress and excellent cook, making her own jellies and pies. A humble person, Katie always put her family and everyone else before herself. She was a very creative woman, often completing home projects by herself. She loved the outdoors and working in her flower beds.
Katie is survived by her children, Linda (Larry) Perry, Cathy Roberts, Chris Owens and partner Rick Heisel; grandchildren, Jason (Dawn) Roberts and Cindy (Robert) Phillips; four great-grandchildren, Joseph Phillips, Brody Phillips, Elizabeth Roberts and Blake Roberts; and four siblings, Tommy (Loretta) Fultz, Clinton Fultz, Joseph (Hazel) Fultz and Violet Butler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Owens; brothers, Billy, Paul and Gary “Cotton” Fultz; and sisters, Lucille, Lucy Alice and Edna Fultz, Mary Tabor and Beulah Perry.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. A graveside service will be held Monday, December 27, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in Owens Cemetery in Smokey Valley, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the family requests that appropriate social distancing be observed.
