Josette Walker Sharick

Josette Walker Sharick, 76, of Ashland, went home to be with her Lord early in the morning of January 16, 2022 from her earthly home at Martin House Assisted Living. She was born on February 10, 1945 at Langley Air Force Base Hospital in Virginia to the late Mary Blanche (Wood) and Alexander Walker (of Alex’s Shell/Service/Alex’s Automotive) of Mansfield.

Her husband, Raymond G. Sharick, preceded her in death October 18, 2019 after 40 years of marriage. They enjoyed going to fairs to see farm equipment and tractors and taking long drives along Lake Erie and through Amish country with their children. She was also preceded in death by her beloved constant companion, Miss Penelope Peabody, her Toy Fox Terrier.

Josette enjoyed fussing over her family, cooking, and family holiday gatherings. She loved the snow and taught her children her special “snow dance.” In her youth skating, sledding, walking and driving in the snow were her favorite activities. When older, as her ability to walk was reduced, she still loved travelling through Ohio with her best friend Lavina Jones, attending fairs, craft shows and trips with the Ashland Council on Aging. She loved reading, especially God’s Word. She enjoyed the services, activities and potlucks at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church along with Vina. Her endearing personality will be missed by those whose lives she touched.

Surviving are three children, Alexander (Jennifer) Sharick, Dawn Sharick (special friend Colter Briggs), Paul Sharick (special friend Kathryn Collins) all of Ashland. Five grandchildren Samuel and Benjamin Sharick and Simon, Owen and Claire Sharick. Her surviving siblings are Ray A. (Pricilla Drumm) Walker of Bellville, Jay A. (Judith Schag) Walker of Mansfield and Doreen (David) Urton of Lexington. Vina (Lavina) Jones of Shiloh has been a very special friend the last 14 years. Special nephew and family, Matthew (Wendy) Carmichael of Lexington, sons Bailey Carmichael, Brandon and Jason Zeides who opened their hospitality to Josette, Raymond and Vina at holiday dinners.

The family appreciates all of the staff at the Martin House Assisted Living for the great care they gave to Josette. A private celebration of Josette’s life will be held with the family at a later date. We mourn our loss, but rejoice in God’s promise. Praise be the name of the Lord.

Memorial contributions may be made to Les Feldick Ministries, 30706 West Lona Valley Road Kinta, Oklahoma 74552. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family.

My favorite memories…..place to spend the holidays – “with my sister Doreen and David”; most memorable gift – “having Christmas with all the Walkers”; memorable winter activity – “walking in the snow and enjoying it”; Valentine’s gift – “when Ray surprised me with a gift”; time spent with my Mother – “going on rides in her old neighborhood”
