Anna “Ann” D. Fanale

Anna “Ann” D. Fanale, 101, of Raytown, MO, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022. She was born on July, 30, 1920, in Riverton, IL, the daughter of Angelo and Palma Visioni D’Andrea. She married Henry Fanale on October 4, 1947 and he preceded her in death on September 9, 2010.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her daughter, Nadia (Lawrence “Jacko”) Fernandez of Raytown, MO; two grandchildren, Lorenzo and Gabriella Fernandez; two sisters, Alga Chapin and Angela (Turner) Wallace, both of California; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ann belonged to St. James Catholic Church in Riverton, where she was a part of the Women’s Association. She was also a member of POLK of A and the Retired Teachers Association.  She was a United States Navy veteran, serving during World War II. She went to Blackburn College and Illinois State University, where she earned her Master’s in Education. Ann was a school teacher for 35 years, teaching 5th and 6th graders in the Riverton School District.  She enjoyed her time with her family and especially loved singing Italian songs with her daughter.

Visitation: 10 – 11 am, Monday, January 17, 2022 at St. James Catholic Church in Riverton.

Funeral Mass: 11 am, Monday, January 17, 2022 at St. James Catholic Church in Riverton, with Reverend Raphael Paul DeMoreno officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church.
