There’s still time to shape future of Carson area transportation; community input needed for long-range CAMPO transportation, transit planning

By Kelly Norman — The Carson Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) reminds residents that there is still time to provide valuable input on the region’s transportation future through an ongoing community survey that will guide critical infrastructure decisions for years to come.

The survey is open and actively collecting feedback from residents across the CAMPO region, including Carson City, Mound House and Dayton in Lyon County, and Indian Hills and Johnson Lane in Douglas County.

Residents can access the survey online here or by visiting CarsonAreaMPO.com.

“We’ve received great response so far, but we want to make sure every voice in our community has the opportunity to be heard,” said Kelly Norman, CAMPO Senior Transportation Planner. “Whether you commute daily, use public transit, or simply want better roads in your neighborhood, your input directly influences how we prioritize transportation investments.”

The survey results will inform two essential planning documents: the Regional Transportation Plan, which guides long-range transportation infrastructure development across the CAMPO area, and the Transit Coordinated Human Services Plan, which focuses on both short-range and long-range transit services. These plans are designed to address community transportation needs while improving coordination between transportation providers and human service organizations.

Key areas the survey addresses include:

  • Current transportation challenges and needs
  • Public transit usage and preferences
  • Road and infrastructure priorities
  • Coordination between transportation services
  • Future mobility options

CAMPO encourages residents who haven’t yet participated to take advantage of this opportunity to influence transportation policy.
