Wayne Richard Smith, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and local music legend passed away on June 23, 2025.
Wayne was born on October 27, 1955 in Kansas City, MO to Worthy and Ida Smith. He is survived by his beloved wife Karla Smith, three daughters Lachelle Monroe, Asia Ewing, Ellery Smith, Four stepchildren, multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Wayne was a lifelong musician, whose talent and presence left a lasting imprint on everyone who had the privilege of hearing him play. Whether on a stage or in church, his music had the power to move people deeply. He spent his life doing what he loved-playing music and had the opportunity to travel across the country sharing that gift.
He was the kind of man who opened his home as easily as he opened his heart—offering a seat, a meal, or a song to countless friends, family, and even strangers who soon became both. Together with his wife, Karla Smith, Wayne created a space where love, laughter, and music were always present.
For the past 20 years, he faithfully played in the worship team at Potter’s house, using his gift to glorify God and invite others into His presence. He believed that music was a sacred bridge between heaven and earth, and through his worship, countless lives were touched, encouraged, and brought closer to the love of Christ.
Wayne will be remembered, not just for his incredible musical gifts, but for his kind heart, unwavering faith and deep devotion to his family, his community, and his creator. He leaves behind a legacy of love, melody, and ministry that will continue to echo for generations to come.
A visitation will be held Sunday June 29, 2025 at 2 PM with a service to follow at The Potters House in Camdenton, MO.
In the meantime, the family asks that we all turn up the music, open our doors, and love like Wayne did.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges-Scott-Millard Funeral Homes, 514 Highway 42, Osage Beach, MO 65065 (573) 348-3232. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.hedgesscottmillard.com.
