It is with profound sorrow and gratitude for a well-lived life that we announce the peaceful passing of Russell Rowe on August 7, 2025, at age 72 years.
Born on June 2, 1953, to the late John W. and Barbara Rowe, Russ grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Wheaton College. Russ worked at Mellon Bank for over 15 years and lived in Wexford for 30 years, raising three wonderful girls with his wife, Paula. In the early days of eBay, he started a home-based business selling sports collectibles, which was rewarding in many ways for years.
He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Paula Rowe; two surviving daughters, Hannah (Timothy) and Rachel, and six grandchildren – True, Liam, Finley, Mila, Luke, and Teddy. He is in heaven with his daughter, Rebekah (Matthew), who predeceased him on May 25, 2025. He is also survived by siblings Wes (Kay) Rowe of Colonial Heights, VA and his sisters, Robin (Brad) McClarnon, and Ruth (Doug) Decker, both of Indianapolis.
Russ loved God and adopted “Smiles for Jesus” as his theme for living, a saying attributed to his mother. Russ was a homebody who appreciated simple joys like his butterfly garden and the wild visiting birds. He enjoyed grilling outdoors in nice weather and made chili, stew, or meatloaf when the weather called for it. He rooted for “his teams, ” the Detroit Tigers, the Indianapolis Pacers, and the Colts. He’ll be missed.
Many thanks to the family and friends who contacted Russ and answered his calls. He loves you. Thank you to Family Hospice – UPMC for their excellent care.
There is no visitation or funeral service, but a memorial celebration will be planned later in the year.
