Zacchariah Rolle

The family of Zacchariah Sylvanous Rolle is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden

passing on August 6, 2025, in New York. He was born on April 8, 1965, in Mount Thompson,

Exuma, Bahamas.

Zach is survived by his loving children, Shantira, Nicholas, Amanda, Julianna, and Eza; his

cherished grandchildren, Benjamin and Ayvah; his dear siblings, Keith Rolle, Sandra Davis,

Gelita Rolle, Harcourt Rolle, Jr. (Vianna), Brenda Rolle, Brenda Maycock, Barbara Adderly, Inez

Miller, Roland Rolle (Shawna) Eddiemae Gibson, and Anthony Rolle (Rochelle); and his former

wife Lisa Rolle. With his passing, Zach is reunited with his beloved parents, Harcourt Sr. and

Savaletha, and sister, Anita Sweeting. Zach is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles,

nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be forever remembered and loved by all who

knew him.

Zach grew up in Mount Thompson, Exuma, and graduated from L.N. Coakley High School. He

went on to become a master scuba diver and instructor and boat captain in Nassau, Bahamas,

a natural path for someone who loved the water and was deeply curious about marine life.

Later, Zach moved to New York, where he began working for Toys “R” Us in New York City, a job

for which he was eternally grateful. He went on to spend twenty years with Cablevision, serving

in a managerial position and building lifelong friendships.

A true people person, Zach had an easy smile and a gift for making everyone feel welcome. He

loved watching movies and cheering on his favorite sports teams: New York Yankees, New

York Giants, New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls. He never missed following the US Open

Tennis Championships or The Masters.

He enjoyed playing games, especially lively matches of dominoes or backgammon with his

children, where laughter and friendly competition always filled the room. He loved everything

about the ocean, including scuba diving, boating and fishing. He was proud to have participated

in the filming of the underwater portions of the “Jaws” series and several James Bond movies,

as well as discovering new dive sites in the Bahamas.

Though he built a full and vibrant life in New York, Zach always carried with him a deep longing

for the turquoise waters and sandy shores of Exuma, the place that shaped his heart and spirit.

His warmth, humor, and love will live on in the memories of those fortunate enough to have

known him
