Margaret Edmondson

Margaret Knox Edmondson passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, surrounded by her children. She was born on October 24, 1942, to Worth and Mickey Knox. She was raised and spent most of her life in Creston, NC. Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Clyde Edmondson. Margaret and Clyde had adventures living in New York, California, and Seattle before settling back home in Creston, where they raised their three children.

The middle daughter of three girls, Margaret had a quiet and patient nature. She graduated from UNC-Greensboro and spent her career as an elementary school teacher, primarily teaching kindergarten, impacting the lives of countless children. Margaret also loved to cook, and while she could make chateaubriand, she was probably more well-known for her overflowing pots of chili that she made for Super Bowl parties and wagon trains.

Margaret had many titles: teacher, daughter, wife, mother, sister, but her most beloved title was Grandmom. She was always happiest when her grandchildren were at her house, making cookies, throwing rocks in the creek, or reading books – whatever they wanted to do, she was all in.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Robert Edmondson and his wife, Ann, of Raleigh; Richard Edmondson and his wife, Melissa, of Creston; daughter, Kara Edmondson of Charlotte; grandchildren Riley, Lauren, Will and Elise Edmondson and Jeff and Kelly Halsey; great-granddaughter Evie Halsey; sisters Adelaide Kopotic and Caroline Beamon; sister-in-law Eloise Price, and a host of well-loved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Boone Family Funeral Home on Monday, September 1, 2025 at 1:00 pm. A memorial service will follow in the Chapel beginning at 3:00 with Rev. Virginia Byrd Peurifoy officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation in Margaret’s name to the International Essential Tremor Foundation at https://essentialtremor.org/donate/giving-options/ or to Transitions LifeCare at https://www.transitionslifecare.org/donate/.
