Erlinda Valdivia Lopez de Mancilla

June 15, 1945 – September 4, 2025

Erlinda Valdivia Lopez de Mancilla married Manuel Mancilla, with whom she would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this September. Their marriage was a testimony of love, resilience, and faith in God.

A dedicated and passionate teacher, Erlinda earned her degree in Social Science and Philosophy and devoted more than 35 years to teaching elementary and high school students. She inspired generations with her encouragement, patience, and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she taught.

Later in life, Erlinda immigrated to the United States, where she proudly became an American citizen and made her home in New Jersey. Though she embraced her new country, she always held her Peruvian heritage close to her heart, joyfully sharing traditions and recipes with her family. She found happiness in spending time with her sons Manuel and Luis, her daughter-in-law Andrea, and especially her beloved grandchildren Alessio and Lussiana. Her kitchen was filled with love, laughter, and the flavors of Peru.

A devoted Catholic, Erlinda prayed the rosary daily and was deeply connected to her faith. She also shared a close bond with the Franciscan Friars, whose presence enriched her spiritual life—whether in her visits to them or in the times they visited her.

Erlinda is survived by her loving husband Manuel, her sons Manuel and Luis, her daughter-in-law Andrea, her cherished grandchildren Alessio and Lussiana, and the Franciscan Friars. She leaves behind countless treasured memories and a legacy of faith, resilience, and unconditional love.

Her family will forever honor her teachings: to love God, to care for one another, and to live with kindness, wisdom, and strength. Erlinda will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
