Anne Waldert Sullivan
- June 12, 2025

Anne Waldert Sullivan passed away at home, surrounded by love, on a beautiful Rochester day on Tuesday, June 10th. It was just as she hoped it would be.
Anne was born in Rochester on April 15, 1943 – family lore is that it snowed that day. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, James Timothy Sullivan Jr. She was the proud mother of Kelly Anne Sullivan and James Timothy Sullivan III – and adored her daughter-in-law, Sarah Chandler Sullivan. She is predeceased by her parents, Leo William Waldert and Jeanette Caswell Waldert. She is survived by her sister, Mary Waldert Hopkins (Robert) and her brother, William L. Waldert (Judie), along with her sister and brother-in-laws, Susan Sullivan Berenson and Terrence Michael Sullivan (Julie). Anne was also a proud aunt to many nieces and nephews.
But the only mention here that would truly matter to Anne is that she was a grandmother to James Timothy Sullivan IV, William Townsend Sullivan, Lucretia Rose Sullivan and Vivienne Rose Sullivan. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. Her chocolate chip cookies were legendary, her freezer was always full of dixie cups and on the weekends, her tv was tuned to the Buffalo Bills, New York Yankees or golf, in hopes that a grandson soon would arrive.
Anne was a friend to many and it is a testament to these friendships that her last hours were spent with her dearest friends from childhood by her side. She was proud alumna of the Sacred Heart Academy in Rochester, NY and Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY. After retiring from Harris Interactive, Anne became an active member of the Chatterbox Club and treasured the friendships and community that came with it. She was proud to say that she lived in the City of Rochester and was an active member of the community there, as she had been throughout her many years in Brighton.
Anne was an avid reader and a great card player. She loved dinner parties, restaurants, New York City – especially when enjoyed with her granddaughters, travel, golf and friends to play golf with. She did not like being sick. She did not like talking about being sick, so we will not spend time on that here, but she did love her doctors and was grateful for the care she received from Strong Memorial Hospital over the years. Doctors Delehanty, Dunne, Ullah, Galka and Rodrigues all had an important hand in giving Anne more years than she ever expected.
Anne’s many friends are invited to join her family at a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 16th at Blessed Sacrament Church, 534 Oxford St, Rochester, NY 14607. Anne’s life will be further celebrated at a luncheon immediately following at the Chatterbox Club, 25 Goodman Street N, Rochester, NY 14607.
