William Collins

William (Bud) Collins went home to be with the Lord, with his friends and family by his side, on September 4, 2021. He was born on April 25, 1934, in Henderson County to the late Charles Collins and Fannie Gilliam Collins. He was preceded in death by his only sister, Geraldine Collins Teague of Mt. Airy, MD.

He is survived by his wife Virginia (Ginger) Collins; four sons, David (Glenda) Collins, John Collins, Clay Kraus, and Thomas Kraus; four daughters, Kathy (Dwayne) Smith, Cheryl Snyder, Marilyn (Gary) Tucker, and Vickie (Jimmy) Stepp; twelve grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter expected in November and a great-grandson expected in December; and numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.

He was a Marine and served his country proudly. He was a police officer for the city of Hendersonville for 18 years and retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed his yearly trip to Kure Beach for fall fishing. He was a member of Tracy Grove Baptist Church, and he loved his Lord, family, and church friends.

A funeral service will be held at one o’clock on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Tracy Grove Baptist Church, with the Reverend James Maybin and Reverend Dan Blackwell officiating. Graveside services will follow. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
