Wilbur Charles Miller 90, of Cedar Rapids, formerly Olin and Marion, passed away at home with family, on March 3, 2024. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will follow the visitation at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Wilbur was born November 5, 1933, in Toddville, Iowa, son of Charles and Minnie (Hamer) Miller. He grew up on the family farm the youngest to three sisters. After attending Toddville High School and graduating he was drafted into the United States Army serving as a mechanic, stationed in France during the Korean War. Upon discharge he was self-employed building houses in the Marion area and with the Military Police Reserves. Later he worked for Iowa Man, Morris & Co and at Iowa Electric (now Alliant Energy) for 26 years till his retirement.

He was united in marriage to Phyllis Hulick in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, November 4, 1967. They were married over 50 years, she preceded him in death in 2018. Wilbur will be remembered as great friend to all who knew him. He considered his friends as family. He loved the outdoors. Motorcycles were a great passion for him from a young age till he was 81 (Harleys were his favorite). Also into camping and traveling, he and Phyllis were winter Texans for 21 years. Loving the water, he could always be found in the boat and water skiing (bare footing till he was 70). His children were his pride and joy, along with his grandchildren; great-grandchildren and most recently little Wilbur.

He is survived by his children, W. Scott Miller of Marion, Diana (Terry) Sund of Cedar Rapids; Dawn (Tim) Rickard Sacramento, CA, Phyllis’s daughter, Carol (James) Nordhus of Janesville, IA; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis; sisters, Bernice, Hazel, Louis; and his beloved dog, Buddy, in January.
