Tivis Ferrell

Tivis Ferrell, 73, of Bellville, passed away Wednesday morning, December 1, 2021, at Avita Health System-Ontario Hospital.

He was born July 26, 1948, in Grundy, Virginia, one of nine children of the late Bessie (Harmon) and Andrew Ferrell. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam War, and was a member of the V.F.W. Tivis was a truck driver, welder and equipment operator, retiring from Rumpke and had previously worked at Flxible and Milliron Auto Parts and Recycling. He enjoyed working on cars, gem mining, and in his younger years, fishing. He was an amazing cook and outstanding grill master.

Tivis was a Christian man with a compassionate and loving demeanor. He was a proud man, a bit ornery and could even be a little grumpy sometimes, but he had a heart like no other. He was an animal lover and took great care of his pet chickens, cats and dogs. His family was his reason for living. Tivis met the love of his life, Patsy Fox, 45 years ago and enjoyed traveling with her. A hero, motivator, and inspiration to his family and friends, Tivis will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patsy Ferrell; three children, Karen (Jason) Metzger, Chris Hill and Misty (Monte) McCammon; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica) Hood, Monique Metzger, Lydia Metzger, Tivis Metzger, Zach Hill, Isaiah Hill, Adrianna Jo Hill, and Connor McCammon; four great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Myles, Tilly and Anna; a sister, Irma Sheldon; two brothers, Charlie (Bertha) Ferrell and Ollie (Freda) Ferrell; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tivis Sha Farrell; and five siblings.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. A funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. conducted by Celebrant Mark Dettmer. He will be laid to rest in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield, Ohio, on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
