Shirley Aileen Hudson

Shirley A. Hudson, 87, of Springfield, IL, passed away November 25, 2022 at the Bridge Care Suites, exactly two years after her husband’s death, and exactly 3 years after her brother-in-law’s, Norman B. Hudson, passing.

Shirley was born September 4, 1935 in Springfield, IL. She married her high school sweat-heart, Donald K. Hudson January 7, 1953. They retired together from Springfield High School in 1992. Shirley was especially proud of her years as a teacher in Springfield’s District 186 where she also taught at Enos Elementary, John Adams Elementary, and Washington Middle School. She was happiest when playing board games with her grandchildren, at holidays with her family, eating chocolates, & reading. In her later years she battled dementia along with her husband Don. Thankfully, they had many happy years together because of the ministry of their beloved caregiver, Mark Wiley. People wishing to give a memorial should buy some especially good chocolate and share it with a friend.
