Scott W. Reese

Scott W. Reese

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Scott W. Reese, age 56 of Chicago, Illinois. Beloved husband of Lisa Deri-Reese for 30 years. Loving father of Elizabeth and Vanessa Reese. Treasured son of the late Robert and Sandra Reese. Dear brother of Michelle Tammen. Caring son-in-law of Joan Deri. Loyal brother-in-law of Melinda (Tom) Wolf, Debbie (Larry) Kemnetz, the late Peter (Barb) Deri, and Todd Tammen. Cherished uncle of Jeffrey Tammen and Amanda (Doug) Maubach, Erin and Caitlin Wolf, Jennifer Kemnetz, Emily (Dennie) Whitlow, Matthew Kemnetz, and Christopher and Alli Deri. Proud dog dad of Leia and a great friend to many.

Scott passed peacefully surrounded by his family after a long and hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Scott grew up in Flanagan, IL, and attended Flanagan High School. He then met the love of his life, Lisa, at 18 years old at Knox College, and later graduated from Illinois State University. Athletics were a core component to Scott’s life, as he competitively played football, basketball, baseball, and track throughout his educational career and continued to pursue golf and fishing recreationally. He was his children’s biggest cheerleader and number one coach during every endeavor they participated in. Scott was passionate about his career at JP Morgan Chase where he served as a Vice President and worked as a Compliance Manager. His many friendships that he developed throughout his career will surely leave a great impact. Scott dedicated his whole life to his family and has passed down his strong work ethic to his children. All who knew Scott are aware of his ability to brighten any room, crack a much needed joke, or put other people’s needs before his own without a second thought. His knack for quoting iconic movie lines and his passionate love for all things Disney provided his family and friends with a tremendous amount of joy and delight. Additionally, his unwavering love for animals and wildlife led to his deep connection with his favorite furry friend, Leia.

Scott lived his life with so much laughter, love, and happiness and he will be so greatly missed by all who knew him. In Scott’s memory, his family would like to quote the creator of his favorite place on Earth, Walt Disney: “Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
