Ruth Scalambrino
Ruth Scalambrino, age 94, passed away February 16, 2022 at New Dawn Retirement Center following a period of declining health. Born in Akron, Ohio on January 4, 1928.
Ruth was a devoted and lifelong member of the Holmes United Methodist Church. A former Vacation Bible school teacher, Sunday school teacher and a former 4-H advisor during her daughter’s younger years. Her hobbies consisted of sewing, crocheting, making quilts, reading books and gardening. For several years Ruth and her husband enjoyed dancing with the NuHall Square Dancers.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Mark W.) Cox of New Philadelphia; a son, Pete F. (Joyce ) Scalambrino of Florida; sisters, Carol Rennicker of New Philadelphia and Joan Johnson of West Lafayette; a brother, Donald Hall of Akron; a brother-in-law, Nick Scalambrino of New Philadelphia; and a sister-in-law, Donna Johnson of Florida; four grandchildren, Parry of Florida, Parnel (Hannah) of Pennsylvania, Patrick (Kaitlynn) of Georgia and Patrice of New Philadelphia; 13 great grandchildren, Brooke, Vincent, Jared, Kiley, Keira, Elijah, Ezekiel, Jordan, Nathan, Lillian, Rylan, Kanaan and Noah; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her husband, the late Peter J. Scalambrino who passed away on April 8, 2008; a sister, Mary Jane Renicker; a brother, Gerald P. Johnson; brothers-in-law, Ernest W. Rennicker, Cletus Renicker, Charles Scalambrino, Anthony Scalambrino, Daniel Zuchegno; sisters-in-law, Florence Zuchegno, Carol Scalambrino, Marie Scalambrino, June Hall, and Theresa Schlegel; and a daughter-in-law, Pamela (Winsch) Scalambrino.
In keeping with Ruth’s wishes, a private graveside service for immediate family will be held at the Holmes United Methodist Cemetery in New Philadelphia, Ohio with Rev. Roger Warren officiating.
