Rodney Gene Bond

Rodney Gene Bond, 61, of Mansfield, passed away Tuesday evening, January 11, 2022, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.

He was born November 1, 1960, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Ruth J. (Daniels) and Romie B. Bond. He graduated from Madison High School with the Class of 1979. After 30 years of service, Rod retired from General Motors and, during that time, became his own boss as well, starting Rodney G. Bond Septic Tank Service, which he operated for over 22 years. A determined man, Rod set an example of what hard work and perseverance could bring to you. He adored his family and loved his children and grandchildren dearly. In his free time, Rod took great pride in personalizing old cars and motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Stephanie Picking Bond; two children, Casey (Justine) Bond and Kayley (Jeremiah) Rush, both of Mansfield; six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Olivia, Taylor, Natalie, Holden and Evelyn; a sister, Renee Davis of Ontario; a brother-in-law, David (Peggy) Picking of Lexington; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, McKenzie Rush; and his in-laws, Paul and Beatrice Picking.

A celebration of Rod’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road from 4:00-7:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Windsor Cemetery at a future date.
