Robert W. Pierce

Robert W. Pierce

Robert W. Pierce, 72, of Hendersonville, NC, passed from this temporary life to his eternal life with Jesus on September 7, 2021, after a very brief illness.

He was born in Memphis, TN, to the late Gerald and Gloria Pierce. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Courtney Hogarth.

Bob lived most of his life in Germantown, TN, working as a Flight Instructor and then an Air Traffic Controller. He later changed careers and worked as a Financial Advisor for 34 years, retiring from Wells Fargo Advisors in 2016. He and his wife Linda moved to the Hendersonville, NC area in 2009.

Bob enjoyed serving on various community boards, including the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau. In Henderson County, he served on the Zoning Board of Adjustment and the Board of Equalization and Review, the latter of which he was Chair. For several years he was Chair of the Board for The Storehouse, Henderson County’s food pantry, which was the ministry closest to his heart.

There were so many facets to Bob’s life. Music, especially Christian music, was one of his greatest pleasures. He played the guitar (loved his Martin!), and sang and played in a church worship band. The name? Bob and the Bandaids. He was a member of First Baptist of Hendersonville. He was a Toastmaster and had been President of both the Ridgefield and New Dimensions clubs. He was a DTM – the highest level of achievement – and had been the Parliamentarian for District 37. He loved investing himself into the lives of others. He was constantly being a mentor, helping others to grow in and improve various areas of life. He relished his role of being The Patriarch of the family. People were drawn by his humor and quick wit, and by his abundant kindness and compassion. He saw a potential friend in everyone he met.

He is survived by his wife Linda, son Stephen Pierce and partner Grant King of Oregon,

sister Jan Messer and husband Jim of Tennessee, nephew Brandon Lynch of Tennessee, son-in-law Robert and grandson Will Hogarth of Tennessee, and mother-in-law Elizabeth Ferrell of North Carolina.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 3:00 pm in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church Hendersonville. Because of Covid spikes, there will be no visitation. You may email words of encouragement to RWPierce2021@gmail.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Storehouse, PO Box 6146, Hendersonville, NC 28793.
