Robert Spencer Schwingel
- April 2, 2021
Robert “Bob” Schwingel age 71, after a courageous and long battle with cancer Bob, found peace while resting at the Elizabeth House.
He was a one-of-a-kind guy and will be missed by many.
He proudly served his country over 20 years in the U.S. Navy and took over as owner-operator of The Village Lock Smith on Hatteras Island. A 14-year adventure he and Robin will never forget.
He attempted to retire in New Smyrna Beach, FL in 2014, but hurricanes. And his wife convinced him the mountains were the place to be. He spent the last years of his life enjoying the view that only WNC can provide.
In addition to his wife Robin, he is survived by one son Alex, two daughters Nicole and Casey, three grandchildren, Chadd, Sarah, and Ryan and a new great-granddaughter Riley. Countless friends from the ocean to the mountains.
Per his request, no service will take place. Celebrations of his life will be held in Florida and Hatteras Island.
If you feel you would like to remember him in a special way the folks at Four Seasons have provided acre and support for him and Robin through this entire journey. Send donations in his name to Four Seasons, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
