Robert Joseph “Bob” Miller, 70, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully in Amberwood Manor on October 31, 2021, following a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Born in New Philadelphia on May 13, 1951, he was the son of the late Leroy Walter and Joan Louise (Fanti) Miller.

After graduating from New Philadelphia High School in 1969, he continued his formal education at Kent State University where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree of Sociology.

As a teenager, Bob started working for Goshen Dairy and continued that employment in their plant until adulthood. He then joined the sales team at Uhrden, Inc. in Sugarcreek. Ultimately, he completed his professional career and retired from Parkway Auto Group serving as their web marketing expert.

Bob was a gifted musician, sharing his tremendous voice with the Tuscarawas County Philharmonic and the Canton Symphony Chorus for more than 30 years. He also had a passion for acting, having participated in more than 30 shows at The Little Theater. There, he built sets and served as president with the theater, too.

Bob was Santa Claus for area families for several years. Riding his motorcycle or driving his corvette also brought great joy to Bob. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Bob coached his daughters’ t-ball and Jr. Miss Softball teams. Fishing and camping with his family on Leesville Lake created lasting memories for them as well.

In 1978, Bob married his loving wife, the former Theresa L. “Terri” Rennie. Together they were blessed with the birth of their two daughters, Maureen (Neil Crawford) Miller of Cleveland, and Allie (Griffin) Baron of Chicago. Bob is also loved by his grandchildren, Harrison and Oliver Baron; his siblings, Bonnie (Larry) Brinkley of Hartville, Colleen (Dante) Martini of New Philadelphia, and Milissa (Dave) Niedermyer of Hartville; several nieces and nephews; his sisters-in-law, Nancy (Bill) Cover and Kathy (Randy) Mates; brother-in-law, Vince DeLuca; and his dog, Duckie.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in passing by his sister-in-law, Judy DeLuca.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Monday, November 8, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. Father Jimmy Hatfield and Father Phillip Cover will con-celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 9 beginning at 11 a.m. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. In keeping with the CDC recommendations, Bob’s family requests masks be worn by any guests that are not vaccinated.

Bob’s family is forever grateful for the excellent care and love from Deacon Jon Coventry, Crossroads Hospice and Amberwood Manor over the final days of Bob’s life.
