Robert C. Smith

Robert (Bob) C. Smith, 85, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, in Granbury. He was born April 2, 1938, in New Bern (Craven County), North Carolina to Nathan and Etta Brown Smith.

Bob began singing in the 1950’s and sang country and gospel music at various venues for years. He owned and operated the Country Love Theatre on the Granbury Square and was a member of the Country Music Organization of America. Bob was also a member of the Texas Silver Haired Legislature, improving the lives of older citizens of Texas. He was a member of the Staked Plains Masonic Lodge #598 in Big Spring, Texas, and a member of the Granbury Masonic Lodge #392. Bob was the Founder and Owner of Bob Smith Bail Bonds Company in Granbury. He dearly enjoyed coaching youth baseball, basketball and football and did so until the age of 82.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Chris Smith, and a brother Bill Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife, Christy Smith; sons, Robert Smith and wife Denise of Big Spring and Terry Smith and wife Amy of Granbury; stepdaughter, Catheryn Johnson of Granbury; stepson, Carey Johnson and wife Suzanne of Conroe, TX.; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers, Lewis Smith, Mike Smith and wife Geri, David Smith and wife Jan, Dale Smith and wife Liz; sisters, Bonnie Darienzo and husband Ed and Cathy Torrey and husband Joe; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be from 6pm-8pm. Friday, May 12, 2023, at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel in Granbury.

Funeral services will be held at 11am. Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel in Granbury with burial to follow at Acton Cemetery.  Masonic Graveside Rites will be conducted by Granbury Lodge #392.
