Robert “Bob” L. Maurer

Robert “Bob” L. Maurer, 92, of Sherman, formerly of Riverton, died at 4:18 am, Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at The Villas Senior Care Community West. He was born August 7, 1930 in Riverton, the son of Andrew and Jesse (Brown) Maurer. He married JoAnne (Stroub) Pescitelli in 1980, and she preceded him in death on December 27, 2020.

He is survived by a son, Michael (Carmen) Maurer of Chatham; one stepdaughter, Karen (Larry) Danner of Riverton; two grandchildren Michael Maurer of Virden and Jessica Maurer of Pawnee; two step-grandchildren, Heidi (John) Paruch of St. Louis and Eric (Sarah) Danner of Springfield; six great grandchildren, Gavin, Piper and Peyton Paruch, Jacob and Evan Danner and Owen Lee Maurer; one sister, Georgian Hock and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jack Maurer and two sisters, Rose Marie Wahmueller and Marilyn Haminde.

Bob lived in Riverton most of his life and retired after 37 years of service from Fiat Allis. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish and Knights of Columbus Council 3214. He enjoyed making sausage and bred and raised Patch Hounds.

Visitation: 9 – 10:45 am, Friday, October 28, 2022 at St. Joseph the Worker in Chatham.

Funeral Mass: 11:00 am, Friday, October 28, 2022 at St. Joseph the Worker in Chatham with Reverend Joseph Molloy officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
