Rev. Myrl Gephart Jr. sunrise May 8, 1935, sundown February 24, 2022. Myrl passed away at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital under hospice care after a 5 year battle with dementia. He was born in Findlay, Ohio on May 8, 1935 to the late Rev. Myrl and Velma (Krugh) Gephart.

Myrl graduated from Findlay High School and College at Findlay University, also receiving his divinity degree at Oberlin University. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1953-1956 as a hospital corpsman. Myrl married his college sweetheart, Marilyn Beer on July 5, 1958 at Ridgeway Church of God in Mansfield. Together, their ministry was with the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church, serving the Sandusky, Granger, Newton Falls, Columbiana, Parma, Poland, Warren and Rittman areas. Their ministry prior to this was with the Toledo Church of God and Savannah United Presbyterian Church.

Myrl is survived by his daughter, Diana and her husband, Randy, who both were his caregivers; granddaughter, Vanessa (JJ) Bell; great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Cassius and Aspyn; and brothers and sister-in-law, Sam Stover, Robert, Bill, John and Diana Beer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; grandson, Benjamin Smith; brothers, Robert Gephart and Jerry Gephart; and sisters-in-law, Carol Beer, Connie Stover, Betty Gephart and Dee Gephart.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the OhioHealth Mansfield Hospice staff for their excellent care to Myrl.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Granger United Methodist Church, 1235 Granger Rd., Medina, Ohio 44256. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family.
