Patricia “Patti” J. Barber

Patricia “Patti” J. Barber, 65, of Mansfield, passed away Wednesday evening, July 28, 2021, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.

She was born October 26, 1955, in Mansfield, Ohio and graduated from Madison High School with the Class of 1974. She retired in 2006, from General Motors after 30 years of service. Patti was meticulous and very organized, a planner extraordinaire, and everyone marveled at her abilities. She was dedicated to her family, but in the past years, they became her favorite hobby. Spending time with them brought her great joy and the memories created together are priceless. Needlepoint and gardening were two of her favorite ways to spend her free time in her earlier years.

Patti is survived by her husband of 25 years, Edward “Gene” Barber; step daughter, Jennifer (Gary) Board; step son, Jason Barber; grandson, Nathan Barber; mother, Shirley Sorrick; brother, Rick Forsythe; uncle, Mike (Sandy) Conroy; four nieces and nephews, Ricky (Jenn) Forsythe, Doug Newsome, Donna Kontul and Michael (Lindsey) Kontul; and seven great-nieces and great-nephews, Tori Forsythe, Brooklynn (Austin) Whisler, Lexi Forsythe, Taylor Starcher, Kayla Newsome, Reghan Newsome; Ava Newsome; Lilyana and Judith Kontul; and a great-nephew on the way; and two great-great nieces, Avery and Maree; and a great great-nephew, Leo. She was preceded in death by her step father, Ray Sorrick; and is reunited with her sister, Judy Wade; sister-in-law, Pat Forsythe; and grandmother, Edna Conroy.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 6:00-7:00 pm at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The memorial service will immediate follow at 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Richland County.
