Loren John Freese, 94, died peacefully at his home, Monday morning, Dec. 5, 2022.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Monticello, with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Pastor David Raemisch Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Goettsch Funeral Home has taken Loren and his family into their care. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Lois; three children, Nancy (Marvin) Dusanek, James (Penny) Freese and Gary (Janet) Freese; four grandchildren, David (Kerri) Dusanek, Jenny (Nate) King, Lauren (Clay) Craighton and Matt Freese; five great-grandchildren, Macy and Keaton Dusanek, Gavin and Naomi King, and Cael Craighton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lillian Rittmanic.

Loren John Freese was born Nov. 10, 1928, at Monticello, Iowa. He was the son of John and Elizabeth Behrends, Freese. Loren graduated from the Monticello Community Schools, with the class of 1947. He married his high school sweetheart, Lois Guyan, on June 19, 1947, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Loren and Lois farmed on the county line road, growing corn, beans, hogs and cattle. Loren was a 4-H leader. He also served on the church council and was the Sunday school superintendent. He enjoyed fishing, hunting deer, woodworking and carpentry projects.
