Lawrence B. Adams of Mansfield, passed away at Mansfield Memorial Homes on October 11, 2021, at the age of 88.
Lawrence Burman Adams was born October 14, 1932, in Malone, Kentucky, the only son of the late Garner and Avis (Elliott) Adams. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1952 to 1954. Upon his discharge from the Army, he married his high school sweetheart, Donna Bishop, on May 30, 1954, and they began a long and wonderful love story. Not a day went by without Lawrence telling Donna she was beautiful and he loved her, sealing it with a kiss. Their life together was beautiful and unique and they were blessed to have found that union.
Gifted with exceptional conversation skills, Lawrence was a people person and never met a stranger in his life. He was an accomplished story teller and brought the stories to life for the listener. He enjoyed taking pictures and videos which added another dimension to his stories. He was a self-employed manufacturer of automotive chemicals. Lawrence attended Temple of God Church in Shelby.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Donna Adams; three children, Teresa (Brad) Cook of Mansfield, Sam (Shelly) Adams of Chickamauga, GA, and Linda (Louis) Gilbert of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Daniel (Sarah) Nolen of Howell, MI, Angela (Anthony) Persky and Jacob (Jennifer) Gilbert, both of Mansfield, Sylvia (Kevin) Buck of Lexington, and Emily (Crystal) Adams-Daniels; seven great-grandchildren, Evan, Kyrsten and Lucas Nolen, Norah and Lilah Gilbert, and Peery and Emilee Buck; two sisters, Fay Krauss of Ontario and Sylvia Hill of Shelby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Gearhart.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park on his birthday with military honors presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to Avita Home Health and Hospice.
