Judy K. Smith
Iowa City
On Aug. 13, 2022, God decided it was time for Judy K. Smith — his angel on earth for 65 years— to come home.
Judy leaves behind Greg, her loving husband and best friend of 41 years. They raised three incredible children, Adam, Eric and Laura. Adam and his wife, Karen, have been married for 15 years and live in Iowa City. Eric and his wife, Kaci, of Iowa City, have two children, Shepard, 4, and Scottie, 1. Laura and her husband, Michael, of Tampa, Fla., have three children, Ivy, 6, Charlie, 4, and Leo, 2. She is also survived by her sister, Toni, and her husband, Tony, of Rockledge, Fla.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Donna and Tryggve Larsen.
Judy was born to be a mother, imbuing their children with a beautiful sense of kindness, generosity and confidence. Judy’s bright spirit, friendliness and sense of humor touched so many people over the years as she and Greg made loving homes, good friends and warm memories in Des Moines, Iowa City, Milwaukee, Wis., and, all too briefly, Tampa, Fla.
Anyone who knew Judy, personally and as a nurse, will remember her humor, wit and intelligence, as well as her deep devotion to her faith. Her genuine eagerness and willingness to help family and friends knew no bounds.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 123 E Market St., Iowa City, Iowa.
The family also invites friends to celebrate Judy’s life from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 2nd Floor Ballroom, 328 S. Clinton St., Iowa City, IA 52240.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Judy’s memory to Tunnels to Towers or the Wounded Warrior Project.
