Joy Carroll Thorpe

Joy Carroll Thorpe, age 71 of Greenville, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 14, 2022.

She was born on October 25, 1950 to William and Roberta Carroll and graduated from Chowan College with a Liberal Arts Degree. Following graduation, Joy was employed by Pitt County where she managed their print shop. She enjoyed woodworking and loved the mountains of North Carolina. After retirement Joy enjoyed working as an EMT for Bell Arthur EMS in Pitt County.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Roberta Stephenson Carroll; her father, William Bryant Carroll, Sr.; her brother, Robert Edwin Carroll; and her special friend, Sue Powell.

Joy is survived by her brother, William Bryant Carroll, Jr. and his wife Allyson of Tillery; her sister, Betty Reed of Asheboro; two nieces, Kirsten Reed of Yadkinville and Shannon Reed of Graham; two nephews, William Bryant Carroll, III and his wife Sharon of Greenville and Derek Reed and his wife Jennifer of Wallace. Also surviving is her special friend, Tamie Overton of Chocowinity.

Per Joy’s request no services will be held.
