John A. Kohlrus

John A. Kohlrus, 95, of River Falls, WI formerly of Sherman and Springfield, IL died at 5:55 am, Wednesday, January 5, 2022, in Hudson, WI. He was born May 2, 1926 in Springfield, IL to Joseph and Theresa (Hoffman) Kohlrus. He married Mary L. Blackburn May 17, 1947 and she preceded him in death November 27, 2003.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary Beth (John Field) Sommers of River Falls, WI and Trudy Suddes of Powell, OH; two sons, Mark (Rosemary) Kohlrus of Oak Park, IL and Tucson, AZ and John J. (Mary Jo) Kohlrus of Monticello; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Timothy Kohlrus November 10, 2019; grandson, Christopher Kohlrus and many brothers and sisters.

John served in the United States Navy during World War II. He owned and operated Kohlrus Catering for many years. He was a master gardener and was an avid fisherman.

He was a member of St. John Vianney Church in Sherman.

Visitation: 9:30-10:30 am, Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at St. John Vianney Church in Sherman.

Funeral Mass: 10:30 am, Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at St. John Vianney Church in Sherman with Reverend George Nellikunnel officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery
where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Breadline.
