Joe K. Bryan

Joe K. Bryan, 94, of Uhrichsville, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 in Community Hospice, Truman House at New Philadelphia, following a period of declining health.

Born in Uhrichsville, he was the son of the late Robert and Hanna (Sells) Bryan and a 1945 graduate of the former Uhrichsville High School in Uhrichsville. Following his graduation, Joe entered the U.S. Army and served overseas during the occupation of Japan following the end of World War II. After his honorable discharge, Joe went to work for the former Ohio Power Company, now AEP, as a lineman and eventually retired early from the company just so he could spend more time with his grandchildren.

Always a hard worker, Joe was constantly active from morning until dark and not just one to sit around. In his younger years, Joe was also a drummer for a number of groups that played Big Band era music at many local establishments and also in neighboring counties as well.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, the late Norma W. Bryan, who passed away in November of 2020. Surviving are his four sons; Randy (Rita), Jamey (Debbie), and twins, Chris and Mark (companion, Charlotte Hines) Bryan; grandchildren, Jacob (Michelle), Steve (Alex), Matthew (Sarah), Bonnie (Bill), Paul (Daiquiri), Natalie and Jessy (Emily) and 8 great grandchildren.

In keeping with Joe’s wishes, he is to be cremated through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and no public services are to be scheduled.
