Jerry E. Reynolds

Jerry E. Reynolds, 87, of New Philadelphia, entered his heavenly reward on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from Park Village Care Center at Dover.

Born at New Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Loyal V. “Shorty” and Helen (Swinderman) Reynolds. Following his graduation from high school, Jerry enlisted into the United States Navy and served his country for four years before his honorable discharge in 1959. Jerry then started his longtime career with Metropolitan Insurance as an agent and would be continually recognized by his company, receiving many awards, as an outstanding agent and advocate for the client families that he served.

In his spare time, Jerry was an accomplished woodworker, having made many pieces of furniture for his family. He also devoted his talents to the Senior Center where he worked at providing minor home repairs to those who could not afford it.

A true man of faith and longtime member of the First Baptist Church at New Philadelphia, Jerry served in many capacities at the church including as a former Sunday School teacher and Deacon. He also enjoyed going on numerous church mission trips, with his wife, to the Philippines.

On September 26, 1954, Jerry married Leah A. (Swinderman) Reynolds, who passed away five weeks shy of their 50th wedding anniversary in August 2004 . Surviving are three sons; Jeffrey A. (wife Susie) Reynolds of Salem, Va., and Jack E. Reynolds and Scott S. Reynolds, both of New Philadelphia and a brother, David (Lane) Reynolds of Lakewood.
In addition to his parents and his wife, a sister and brother-in-law, Cleva and Harold Walton, also precede him in death.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022 from 4 to 6 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia. A funeral service, celebrating Jerry’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at 10:30 AM in the First Baptist Church at New Philadelphia with Pastor Todd Gopp officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia where the New Philadelphia VFW will provide military honors. Following the committal service, members of the church will host a reception for family and friends in “The Barn” on the church campus.

So that Jerry’s legacy of service to God may continue, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the World Missions Fund in care of the First Baptist Church, 878 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia OH 44663.
