Janice Elizabeth Drennon

Janice Elizabeth Drennon, 73, of New Philadelphia, OH passed away in Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital, Dover, OH on September 3, 2021 following a short battle with Covid-19.

Born in Huntington, West Virginia on June 17, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Davis Alexander and Esther Elizabeth (Bryant) Bragg and predeceased by her older brother Richard. She is survived by her family including her husband David E. Drennon, sons Christopher M. Tweel (Leah) of Richmond, VA and Patrick A. Tweel (Summer Devol) of Williamstown, WV, granddaughters Amara Tweel and Bailey Tweel, and step children Hannah McMillan (Benjamin) of Charleston, WV, Jennifer Huber (Mitchell) of Parkersburg, WV and Caleb Drennon (Emily) of Pittsburgh, PA and step grandchildren Elena and Paloma McMillan and Jaikin Huber.

Janice was a graduate of Huntington East High School and earned BA and MA degrees from Marshall University, and was retired from Wood County Schools (WV) after a number of years as a middle school reading teacher (bless her heart!)

Jan was born with musical notes, rhythm, harmony and creativity in every fiber of her being and she used those gifts with her perfect pitch voice, fingers (and feet) to the glory of God as an accomplished pianist, organist and music director at various churches in Parkersburg and Marietta for many, many years. Her greatest desire was to sing praises of and make beautiful music for the God who dearly loved her.

Just as she was with music, Janice was equally passionate in her love for her family. Her intense blue eyes and quick smile were always accompanied by a warm hug of love and encouragement to do what was right and best. Her absence leaves an unfillable void in our lives but at last she truly sings with the angels in endless praise of her Savior.

Family will receive guests Wednesday, September 8, 2021 from 10 to 11 a.m. with the service beginning at 11 a.m. in Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 7707 Market Ave N., North Canton, OH 44721 with Rev. Anders Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in Schoenbrunn Meadow Burial Park located on Delaware Drive SE between 20th and 21st Streets SE in New Philadelphia.

Memorial contributions in Janice’s memory may be directed to the church.
