Janet Marie Kuhnke

Janet Marie Kuhnke, 65, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at her home. She was born in Spokane, WA on February 8, 1956 to Lt. Col. Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Severns Campbell. She married Mark Kuhnke, M.D on June 18, 1983 and he survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Alicia Marie (Andrew) Gent of Silver Spring, MD; two sons, Andrew Thomas Kuhnke of Denver, CO and Matthew Benjamin Kuhnke of Boston, MA; one granddaughter, Annabella Lavender Gent; two brothers, Thomas (Pam) Campbell of St. Louis, MO and Robert (Sabrena) Campbell of Springfield and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Janet was a resident of Springfield for most of her life and earned her Associate Degree at Springfield College in IL. She completed x-ray technologist training at Memorial Medical Center, where she served the community throughout her career.

She was a dedicated tennis player and played in the Senior National Tennis Championship. Janet loved making art, especially stained glass. She was an outreach teacher for the Springfield Art Association. For many years, Janet was a referee for IHSA volleyball games.

A celebration of Janet’s life will be held at a later date.
