Harold Ernest Hoerich

Harold E. (Hal) Hoerich, 101, of Hendersonville died June on Friday, June 4, 2021, at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, North Carolina. Hal was born December 14, 1919, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Ernest A. and Dora P. Hoerich; he was also preceded in death by his wife, June Hoeirch, his twin sister, Ruth D. Hoeirch and his son Gregory B. Hoerich.

Hal graduated from Carl Schurz High School of Chicago and then joined the US Air Force to service his country during the World War II conflict. As a World War II veteran Hal fulfilled administrative assignments at the Air Force radio school in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Army specialized Training program in Raleigh, North Carolina; and overseas with an Engineer Parts Supply Company in Liege, Belgium.

In 1953, after his military services Hal attended Northwestern University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Hal met and married the love of his life, June. The two were residents of Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills, Illinois before moving to Hendersonville in 1987. Hal and June would take their two children camping together in National Parks all over the United States. Late he and June enjoyed traveling throughout and took frequent river cruises in the country and Europe.

Left to cherish Hal’s memory are his daughter, Kathleen Iovene of Pawleys, South Carolina; Greg’s long-time partner Rose of Lithia Springs, Georgia and granddaughter, Christine Goulette and husband Fred of Coventry, Rhode Island.

A private interment will take place in the family plot located in the Mount Emblem Cemetery of Elmhurst, Illinois. Memorials in Hal’s name may be made to a charity of choice.
