Gregory Lynn Helms
Gregory Lynn Helms, 66, of Springfield died at 10:57 am Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his loving wife and daughter.
He was born January 6, 1956, the son of Geno and Helen (Bramlet) Helms. He married the love of his life Debbie Karpowich April 27, 1983. Together they lived a life you could write a book about.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; two children, Brian (Anita) Helms of California and Bridget (Brian) Fleck of Springfield; four grandsons, Lincoln & Brooks Helms and Geno & Joey Fleck; one sister, Judy (Jack) Shupenus of Petersburg; a sister-in-law, Gloria (Matt) Helms of Springfield and several nieces and nephews, including Jeff Shupenus and Eric & Gavin Helms.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Matt Helms.
Gregory retired from the State of Illinois. He thoroughly enjoyed riding his bike 20 miles each day. You could often find him hunting, playing cards, or searching for CC & water at any bar. His greatest passion was spending time with his grandsons and traveling with his wife.
No services will be held.
