Glenn V. Akers, 76, passed away June 24, 2025 at home surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer. He was born April 7, 1949 in Princeton, Minnesota to Vernon and Annabelle (Ziebarth) Akers. He spent his childhood and teen years growing up in Central City, Iowa with his siblings Gary, Marilyn and Larry.
He attended a one-room schoolhouse, No. 8 (Rollins) in rural Central City, Iowa, later attending Central City Community school. His family moved to Spencer Brook, Minnesota in 1965. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1967.
He spent the majority of his working career as a cement mason, traveling and living in multiple states across the U.S. His many tales revealed a life well lived and traveled.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Frank and Alice (Peterson) Ziebarth and Jeremiah and Vinelandis (Sheppard) Akers, parents Vernon “Buster” and Annabelle Akers, brother and sister-in-law Gary and Joanie (Biniek) Akers, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Survivors include his sister Marilyn (Michael) Trunk and brother Larry (Lori) Akers, nieces and nephews Jason (Melinda) and Erik (Rebecca) Akers, John Bergmann, Jennifer (Jon) Moos, Jacquelyn, Jeremiah (Sharma) Luedke, Josh and Jillian Luedke, Angela (Tim) Alexander and Alesha Akers, aunt Mary (Ziebarth) Mattson, uncle Larry Ziebarth, many great-nieces and -nephews, cousins and friends.
Per Glenn’s request a private family burial is planned at Baldwin Cemetery, Baldwin, Minnesota.
