Genevieve M. Groener

Genevieve “Gen” M. Groener, nee Burke, age 95, of Chicago. Beloved wife of the late William J. Groener, Jr. Devoted mother to Kathleen (Alan) Funck, Michael (Nancy) Groener, Peggy Ogorek, Brian (Beth) Groener, and Mary (Tim) Shannahan. Cherished grandmother of nine, and great grandmother of thirteen. Dear sister to Margaret Hohl, the late Russell Burke, the late Francis Burke, the late Phyllis Burke, and the late Harold Burke. Loving aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend to many. Gen loved her time working with the students at Senn High School and it’s Little Big Horn Program for many years. She was very proud to be the writer and editor of the Irving Park YMCA Senior Newsletter. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gen’s name to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

A visitation will be held Friday, October 22, 2021 at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 1104 Waukegan Rd. Glenview IL, from 4:00-8:00pm. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, October 23, at Queen of All Saints Basilica, 6280 N. Sauganash Ave. Chicago IL at 10:00am. Interment All Saints Catholic Cemetery.
