Frances Pietch, Ph.D.

Frances Pietch, Ph.D in literature at Northwestern University. Loving daughter of the late Frank and Ethel Pietch. Retired principal with 44 years of service as an educator in the Chicago Public Schools. She was well known for developing strategies to encourage children to write and express their imagination. Dr. Pietch also taught at Northwestern University and National Louis University. Dr. Pietch’s life long avocation was music. She was a dedicated violinist playing in university and community orchestras, such as the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, the Evanston Symphony and the Highland Park Strings. She enjoyed playing chamber music with like minded friends. Visitation Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 9:30am until time of Funeral Service at 10:00am at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Ave., Chicago. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lyric Opera of Chicago, 20 N. Wacker Dr., Chicago, IL 60606 would be appreciated.
