Donald H. Gardner, 95, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully October 1, 2021, following a period of declining health.

Born in Port Washington on July 2, 1926, he was the oldest son of the late J. Bert and Helen (Weingarth) Gardner. Don joined the United States Army where he honorably served during World War II in the Pacific and Germany. He was discharged with the rank of staff sergeant.

Don retired from Reliable Auto Parts as a salesman. He also delivered pharmaceuticals in the evening for Marlowe Pharmacy and Omni Care.

Don was an avid bowler and golfer. He also served as a past president of the NP Exchange Club and was a member of the New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445.

On November 7, 1981, Don married his wife of 39 years, Donna (Evans) Stutzman Gardner. Together, they enjoyed golfing, spending time at the ocean, and being with family and friends.

He will also be deeply missed by his children, Richard (Debra) Stutzman of Delaware, Ohio, and Sherry (Richard) Everett of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Richard (Jennifer) Everett, II, Rachel (Tommy) Cannon, both of New Philadelphia, Kyle Stutzman of Steubenville and Sarah (Tim) Louters of Delaware; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Talyn and T.C. Cannon, Stella Everett, and Harper, Lennox, Scarlett, and Lincoln Louters; siblings, Kenneth, Harvey, and Richard Gardner, and Faye Tharp; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in passing by his first wife, Doloras Castello Gardner; his brothers, John, Clifford, and Glenn; and brother-in-law, William Tharp.

A memorial service will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. The New Philadelphia VFW will render military honors at the conclusion of the service at the funeral home.
