Dennis Rudolph Schiller

Born in Long Beach, CA on February 3, 1948 to John and Byrma Schiller.

Passed in Granbury, TX on September 1, 2021 at the age of 73.

He grew up in Garden Grove, CA and Graduated from California State University, Long Beach. He started working at age 15 in a grocery store, and worked for Care Ambulance during college. The most enjoyable and satisfying employment was for an alternative health clinic in Southern California. He enjoyed traveling to national parks, to Minnesota to see relatives, and abroad.

He became a Christian in High School and loved supporting Wycliffe, OCI, and other Christian organizations. He loved to play Pinochle, Cribbage, and Boggle with friends and family. He was known by many as a strong baritone who would serenade anyone in need of a smile. Dennis’ great set of lungs also gave him a signature laugh that boomed across a room and announced his presence anywhere (almost matched by his sneeze!). He had a library of songbooks and hymnals to match his love of music, and he was very proud to have had the opportunity to sing in Carnegie Hall with the Wind Song Community Choir.

He had a great love for classic cowboy culture and was a happy supporter of the Roy Rogers’ Foundation (his childhood hero), and was an enthusiastic collector of Western decor. He was an avid reader, consuming everything from mysteries and Tolkein novels, to the dictionary – which led to an advanced vocabulary.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Mary Ann, and his three daughters, Allison Powell, Amber Quoc, and April Stouffer, as well as his brother Duane Schiller, and eight grandchildren.

A Graveside Service will be 10:00 am, Tuesday September 7, 2021, Acton Cemetery.
