Daniel J. DeGroot

Daniel J DeGroot, 68, adored husband of Marian nee Coco, beloved father of Danielle, brother to Jodi Karey, Judy (Lloyd) Arrow. Timothy (Madeline) DeGroot, brother-in-law to Gloria Wisniewski, Lawrence Coco, Carol Lilla, and Mary Coco, uncle and friend to many, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021, at his home, with his wife Marian and his daughter Danielle by his side.

On September 15, 1952, Joan Mary DeGroot was supposed to go to dinner to celebrate her birthday.  While those plans were disrupted, she received the best birthday gift ever in the birth of her son Daniel J DeGroot.  While his mom was taken way too early, they would celebrate many happy birthdays together and will once again be able to celebrate their birthdays together.

For the last ten years, Dan was blessed to work in a job that he loved.  He worked in the Publishing Department for the American Medical Association and was very proud of their journals.  Dan’s favorite pastime was riding his Harley, which he named Red.  Dan often teased Danielle by referring to it as her brother. He also enjoyed listening to music and spending time at home with his family.

Dan was so generous with time. He had a passion for helping his family & neighbors, doing whatever he could to help.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joan Nee Hadoc DeGroot & Maynard DeGroot, step-mother Mary DeGroot, mother and father-in-law Henry & Catherine nee Vadala Coco, and his brothers-in-law, Paul Wisniewski, Lynn Lilla, and Michael Coco.
