Christine M. Powers

Christine M. Powers 91, of Springfield, passed away at 4:45 pm, Monday, March 27, 2023 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born February 24, 1932 in Wichita, KS, to George and Vera (Everley) Berry. She married John H. Powers in 1955 and he preceded her in death on February 3, 1979.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one great granddaughter, Taylor Shaw; two brothers, Richard Berry and Bernard “Bud” Berry and infant brother, Daniel Berry.

Survivors include one son, Dan (Carla) Powers of Springfield; two grandkids, Laura (Trevor) Shaw and Nathan (Sam) Powers both of Springfield; two great grandkids, Henry and Edward Shaw; two sisters, Dori Berry of Tempe, AZ and Joyce (Ted) Little of Roodhouse; two brothers, Glen (Paula) Berry of Mt Vernon, IL and David (Mary Lou) Berry of Hannibal, MO and several nieces and nephews.

Christine retired from CIPS (Ameren) and had attended Calvary Church. She loved music and playing the piano in her free time. Her greatest joy though was spending time with her family.

Memorial Gathering: 12 – 1 pm, Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Memorial Service: 1 pm, Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Kathy Hutchins officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
