Brother Luke Morin, F.F.S.C., 81, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022, at The Villas Senior Care Community. He was born August 26th, 1940, in Sioux City, IA. the son of George F. and Charlotte I. (Minear) Morin. His baptismal name is Patrick George Morin. He is preceded in death by his parents and loving brother Timothy Morin. Survivors include two brothers, Thomas Morin of Sun City West, AZ and Michael Morin of Gilroy, CA, two sisters, Michaeleen Kozel of Glendale, AZ and Kathleen Welch of Cave Creek, AZ, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Brother Luke served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1961. He was a member of the Franciscan Brothers of the Holy Cross and resided at St James Monastery in Springfield, Illinois since 1969. Brother also served several years at St. Coletta’s in Jefferson, Wisconsin working with young adults in need of special education. Brother Luke’s humble devotion, fidelity and faithfulness in the healthcare field is a testimony to his kind warm hearted character. He’s been a faithful servant to the church and a faithful servant to God. His life is complete, and he will be missed forever and forever more.
A private memorial mass will be held March 4th, 2022 in Springfield. Brother Luke will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, AZ where military honors will be conducted.
