Bonnie S. (Folkers) Eddings, of Cedar Rapids passed away peacefully on Aug. 23, 2022, at her home following a lengthy illness surrounded by family and dear friend, Rhonda (Fisk) Winn. Per Bonnie’s wishes, no services are planned. Celebrate Life Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.

Bonnie was a graduate of Jefferson High School in 1972 and later earned her RN nursing degree from Kirkwood Community College. Bonnie later worked at Tanager Place for 18 years. Throughout her nursing career, she was often recognized for her strong work ethic and the outstanding care and compassion of those she cared for.

Bonnie was a strong competitor in the various sports she participated in, specifically softball and swimming. She played fast pitch softball on Armstrong’s State Championship Teams and was known for her many RBIs and home runs. Bonnie was a state champion in the butterfly on her Jefferson High School swim team. Bonnie’s smile and wit were contagious and she was the life of gatherings and parties.

Survivors include her husband, Jay Eddings; children, Lori and Todd Stambaugh; stepson, Richie (Lori) Eddings; special grandchildren, Emilee Stambaugh, Makenzlie Eddings and Tiegan, Andrew and Ben Coleman from Columbus, Ga.; her great-grandson, Kyriee Larson; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces; sister, Barb (Blake) DeMaria; brothers, Bill (Judy) Folkers and Bob Folkers; brother-in-law, Jon (Mary) Eddings from Dekalb, Ill.; and many special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Folkers; father, Bill Folkers Sr.; sister and brother-in-law, Tobie and Monty Bounds; mother-in-law, Esther Eddings; father-in-law, Bill Eddings; niece, Melissa DeMaria and her grandparents and many special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Special thanks and appreciation to her family and many friends and to each of the care providers who cared for Bonnie. A special thanks to UnityPoint Clinic, Mary Jo Henry, ARNP, and the entire Mercy Hospice team who provided outstanding medical treatment and care throughout her extended illness. Bonnie and her family were blessed to have had each of you at our sides. Your professionalism throughout her journey was extraordinary.
