Bonnie L. (Fowler) Hansen, 81, of Marion, Iowa, died Saturday, February 22, 2025, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website under the obituary for Bonnie L. Hansen, under the video tab starting at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2025.

Bonnie was born May 26, 1943, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Oral and Irene (Wagner) Fowler. She grew up in areas surrounding Iowa City and enjoyed the early years of her life in the country with her siblings Johann and Steve. Later her family moved into Iowa City. She attended school at Iowa City High.

Following her schooling Bonnie’s caring nature led her to positions in the hospitality industry. On May 15, 1969, Bonnie married Max E. Hansen in Iowa City. The couple moved to Cedar Rapids and Bonnie fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a mom. She enjoyed baking, crafting, sewing, walking, hiking and tending to her daughters Michelle (Hansen) Dalton and Sheryl Hansen. Max and her girls meant everything to Bonnie, and she created a happy and loving home.

Once her girls grew Bonnie returned to the workforce, spending many years employed by Bishops Cafeteria at Lindale Mall. Bonnie loved to be busy taking care of her customers, husband Max, and eventually her grandchildren. It was her nature to serve others first. Bonnie was a devoted Christian and member of Kenwood Park Methodist Church.

In retirement Bonnie loved following college basketball and attending country concerts throughout the Midwest. We joked that Brooks and Dunn knew them by name. They never missed a show.

Bonnie is survived by her daughters Michelle (Eric) Dalton of Marion, Iowa; and Sheryl Hansen (Dave Siefer) of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Nate Dalton, Natalie Dalton, Cole Arensdorf, Jack Arensdorf and Angela Arensdorf; a great-grandson, Malachite Arensdorf, and her sister in-law Mary Fowler, and many nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Max, her parents, sister Johann Rigel (Leonard) and brother Steve Fowler, in addition to her in-laws on the Hansen side.

A special thank-you to the staff, nurses, and doctors at Emery Place and The Views of Marion for all their tender and loving care given to Bonnie.

Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Bonnie.
