Alvin Voide Hoggard
COLERAIN, NC – Alvin Voide Hoggard, age 90, passed away on September 8, 2022, at the ECU Health Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie.
Mr. Hoggard was born in Bertie County, NC, on April 24, 1932, a son of the late Jessie Jenkins and Glenie Odell Mitchell Hoggard. Alvin worked to provide for his family with the NC Department of Transportation for over 25 years. Alvin was an outdoorsman who was an avid fisherman and hunter, especially duck and squirrel. After retirement, Alvin found pleasure in bird watching and would spend hours watching his martins and hummingbirds. He was a true family man and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Besides his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Shirley Temple Hoggard, a brother, Brody Hoggard, and sisters, Betty Lou Hoggard, and Jessie Odell Hoggard.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Ricky Hoggard and wife, Charlene of Colerain, NC; a daughter, Deborah Kay Hoggard Watson of Jamesville, NC; grandchildren, Joseph Paul (Cheryl) Hardison of Jamesville, NC, Stephen Matthew (Jamie) Hoggard of Merry Hill, NC, Jonathan Craig Hoggard of Ahoskie, NC, Thomas David Watson of Jamesville, NC, and Shannon Lee (Rachel ) Hoggard of Ahoskie, Carla Kathleen Watson of Greenville, NC; Abigail Copeland, Nathan Oneal, Edward McMillan, and Jacob McMillan; great grandchildren, Cole Lane Hoggard, Elliott Matthew Hoggard, Joseph Thomas Hardison, and Madeline Rose Hoggard.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 10, 2022, from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Preston Jernigan, officiating. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery, Windsor, NC
