Anne M. Beers
September 8, 1927 – February 2, 2022

Anne M. Beers, 94, of Hendersonville, NC passed away peacefully at Pardee Hospital in
Hendersonville on Wednesday, February 2. A year earlier Anne lost her husband of 72 years,
Albert L. (Al) Beers at 93 years of age.

Anne was born September 8, 1927, in Newark, NJ to the late Nicholas Grasso and Anna
Malanga Grasso. Anne graduated from high school in Newark. While working at Western
Union, Anne met Al, and the two began dating. After Al’s brief service in the Navy, they were
married on October 2, 1948, and moved to nearby Belleville, NJ.

Al began his 40-year career with Interchemical Corp. as an accountant in 1949. Al and Anne
had three children and moved the family to the Detroit area in 1966 via a job transfer. Through
the years there were additional moves and Corporate acquisitions before Al retired in 1988 from
BASF Corp. as VP of Finance. Anne was a homemaker until their children reached high school
and then worked in the retail area.

Al and Anne had long been avid golfers, so when it was time for retirement they opted for a golf
community in the beautiful foothills of Western NC. Kenmure CC was a recently opened club,
so Al and Anne became pioneers and were active in all aspects of the community. In 2017 he
and Anne decided to downsize to LakePointe Landing in Hendersonville, NC. Anne’s greatest
contribution at Kenmure was leading the establishment of the community library. Anne also
volunteered at several outside venues, including St. John Episcopal Church and Interfaith
Assistance Ministry, where she was a long-term intake coordinator.

As the caring matriarch of the Beers Clan, Anne is survived by her sons Richard (Gail), and
Allen (Peggy), daughter Diane Koontz (Rich), grandchildren Craig, Nick, Alex, Gina, Andrea,
Zack, Nick2, and Natalie, and great-grandchildren Jude, Ethan, Cody, and Olivia. Despite long
distances between family members in Williamsburg, VA, Atlanta, Fort Worth, and Austin, TX, St.
Louis and Minneapolis, Al and Anne have always maintained close ties, hosting get-togethers
at Kenmure and elsewhere, including an annual getaway to Orange Lake Resort in FL.

Shuler Funeral Home, 125 Orr’s Camp Rd. Hendersonville, NC 28792, is assisting the family
with arrangements. Because of COVID-19, there will be no visitation. An interment ceremony
with immediate family is planned for Saturday, February 12, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial contributions be made to St. John in the
Wilderness Episcopal Church, 1895 Greenville Hwy, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
