Wilma Bukowski

Wilma J. Bukowski, 96, of Momence, IL, died on Friday, May 23, 2025, at her home.  She was born on December 3, 1928, in Kankakee, IL, the daughter of William J. and Elmo Legg Haslett.  She married Harry E. Bukowski on February 1, 1947, in Momence, IL. He preceded her in death on January 4, 2015.

Wilma is survived by her son; Bill and Lori Bukowski of Momence, IL. Also surviving is her brother and sister-in-law; Carl and Billye Haslett of Richmond, KY. The family would like to thank a special close family friend and caregiver, Diane for all of her help over the past few years. She is preceded in death by her parents.

She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Momence and also a member of the Council of Catholic Women and served as the former president. Wilma was a current member of the Kankakee and Will County Councils of Catholic Women where she was a past Deanery President. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Momence. She was a member of the DAR – Daughters of the American Revolution for many years.

Wilma enjoyed crocheting blankets out of recycled plastic bags for the homeless as a project for the Council of Catholic Women. She was an avid horse lover and had her own horses during her youth. She enjoyed taking rides in the countryside, which reminded her of her childhood.
