William Winters
William N. “Bill” Winters, 85, of Abingdon, VA passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, TN. He was born in Damascus, VA on July 1, 1939, a son of the late Omar and Pearl Winters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Winters; a daughter, Patricia Winters Campbell; a son-in-law, Mike Campbell; and a brother, Howard Winters.
He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, VA and had worked for several years for the old Johnston Memorial Hospital and also Grace Health Care. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Bill is survived by two sisters, Jane Walls (Dean) and Trula Mae Mahala (Roy); one brother, Omar Winters, Jr.; a sister-in-law, Jane Winters; several nieces and nephews; and his canine companion, Lucky.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Garrett Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm Thursday in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Pastor James Walls officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, VA. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
